Children are encouraged to participate in sustainable practices by growing vegetables, developing the worm farm and recycling. Albany ELC places available for children from birth to 5 years.

The centre offers specialised music and movement programs, a diverse creative arts program and nutritious home-style food, while maintaining affordable fees. We are conveniently located across the road from Yakamia Primary School. The centre is a member of Remida; a creative reuse centre that supplies recyclable materials to services for children to be creative with and learn about sustainability.

Centre Director: Anneli

Anneli has worked in the childhood industry for over 30 years. Her experience includes working with children and supervising teams both in Sweden and here in Australia. Anneli moved to Australia/Albany 11 years ago and loves the family friendly atmosphere the centre has to offer.

An introduction of Albany from Anneli:At YMCA Albany ELC we love watching the children develop and grow into tomorrow’s leaders, to grow into strong and capable individuals who can achieve anything. Watching the children gain a sense of achievement when they accomplish a new challenge is exciting – especially when we know that we had an impact on it. Each individual child brings a smile to our face, and makes our day complete. We love to watch them explore and discover new things, achieve milestones and overcome hurdles each day.

We believe that family is an important influence on a child's growth and development, and therefore welcome parents to attend our centre at any time - to ask questions, offer support and join in with the programs we provide for their children. Our service embraces multicultural diversity through encouraging our staff and families to provide us with a variety of cultural backgrounds to draw inspiration from.

“I love living in Albany, it offers so much diversity with it’s so many beaches, camping areas, bush walks, wineries and many cultural events.”

“I am committed to providing the best resources for our children so that they may grow and develop to their full potential, and I support my team of educators to ensure we can all provide this.”

“I love my work as an educator because I believe that the start of a child’s life is the beginning of a lifelong learning, I see it as a privilege to be able to be a part of it and support our children to become inspiring young leaders.”

  • We absolutely love our YMCA Albany day care! I have peace of mind that Kohen will be well looked after and loved while I have to work. The staff make the centre feel like a home and even stop to say hi to Kohen outside of hours. I also appreciate the fact that I have a little story to read at the end of each day about the activity Kohen has been a part of so I don't miss out on anything. I have recommended other family members to use the centre and they love it too. - Jordyn
  • The centre has a lovely vibe to it. The educators greet us each day and I can always tell how happy he has been and how much fun he has had. It has definitely helped to shape the person he is becoming and how confident he is.

  • Amazing workers. No amount of praise would be enough. They not only look after my children but help them grow whilst creating deep connections with them. They create a safe and exciting space that encourages my children to explore all aspects of life.
