Season One of YChats is finished!

Youth

So many amazing projects were launched in 2019 and one that is very close to our hearts and mission is our podcast, YChats!

YChats is a podcast for young people, by young people and is the very first YMCA podcast to be launched in Australia.

It was created following focus groups with young people across the state, where they identified the need for a safe space for them to talk through their own lived experiences, as well as hear from experts on how best to navigate difficult times and situations. Our aim is to start conversations about those topics people often find difficult to discuss, including domestic violence, sexual assault, addiction, mental health and suicide, and open up dialogue, whilst removing stigmas.

YChats host, Alana Christidis, is a young person working at YMCA WA as Communications Officer and Youth Advocate, and although new to podcasting, is a passionate advocate for youth empowerment.

“People often say young people have to be given a voice. But that’s not true – we all have a voice, we just need a platform to get our voice heard and we need people to listen!” explains Alana.

We have just wrapped up season one after ten episodes and are already planning season two. Do you have any suggestions for what you want to hear about next? If you haven’t listened, you’re missing out. Hit the links below to binge the whole season!
