‘Kokoda- A Journey in Self Discovery' Opens at the Y WA HQ Gallery

Last week the highly anticipated photo exhibition, Kokoda: A journey in Self Discovery, opened at the Y WA HQ Gallery space.

The opening event brought together families from Kalgoorlie and Perth, turning the occasion into a heartfelt family reunion for some. Many attendees shared short stories and speeches about the profound impact the Kokoda program ad on their lives.

This exhibition marks a significant milestone for one of our own, Tegan Taudigani, the Y WA graphic designer and content creator.  Having completing the Kokoda Trek last year, Tegan presents her first-ever photo exhibition, beautifully capturing the essence of self-discovery through her lens.

Tegan was honoured to share and recognise with families the achievements of all the young people involved in the program.

She said, “The amount of support a lot of the families gave the participants throughout the whole journey has been phenomenal, and I wanted to create a space that acknowledged it.

“It warms my heart to hear directly from te parents how much of an impact this program has had in their children’s lives”.

The exhibition runs until Friday, May 24, with a closing night event from 4pm to 7pm. All are welcome to attend and be inspired by the stories and images that defined the 2023 Kokoda experience.
